Tehri Dam
Tehri Dam located on the Bhagirathi River in Uttaranchal now become Uttarakhand. It is the highest dam in India with a height of 261 meters and the eighth tallest dam in the world. It is built close to the town of Garhwal in order to trap the water from the basin of the uppen Ganga at the Bhilanganga and Bhagirathi confluence. The owner of Tehri dam is Tehri Hydro Power Development Corporation (THDC) and the dam was opened in 2006. Tehri Dam withholds a reservoir for irrigation, municipal water supply and the generation of 1,000 MW of hydroelectricity.

We lost Bhupen Hazarika on 5th November, 2011 and now the Jnanpith awardee Mamoni Raisom Goswami on 29th November, 2011. She took her last breath at 7.46 AM at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Death of Mamoni Raisom Goswami is a great lose to Assamese literature which never filled. Her death creates a large vacuum in Assamese literature.

Mamoni Raisom Goswami, an Assamese editor, a professor, a scholar, a writer, a visionary was born in 14th November 1942 in Guwahati in a Brahmin family. Her original name was Indira Goswami and popularly known among Assamese people as Mamoni baideo (elder sister). Her contribution to the Assamese literature is very much. She wrote many poets, novels and short stories also.

Virender Sehwag Scored 219 Runs in One Day Cricket

The stand-in captain Virender Sehwag, the Sultan of Najafgarh (Southern part of New Delhi) scored 219 runs and surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's highest individual score in One Day International (ODI) cricket against West Indies in the fourth match in a 5 match series.

Sachin Tendulkar created history on February, 2010 scoring 200 not out against South Africa in Gwalior. He faced 147 balls to score 200 not out and hits 25 fours and 3 sixes. The jam packed Holkar Stadium, Indore witnessed this remarkable achievement of Sehwag in One Day Cricket. He reached the 200 milestone when he square-cut Andre Russell for a boundary in the 44th over of the Indian innings. He faced 140 balls and hit 23 fours and 6 sixes in his 200 milestone.
