How To Hide Local Disk Drives in Windows XP



When your computer is turned on all your Local Disks are seen from My Computer. Anyone access your data. If you have some private data like image, videos in that case you must need to hide your local disks (C, D, E, etc.) so that no one can see your private data. This article help you to hide that particular local disk of your system. To hide drives in windows system you need to follow the below steps.

1. Click on Starts and select Run


2. Type gpedit.msc and click on OK. Group Policy dialog box opens


3. Now expand Administrative Templates under User Configuration


4. Expand Windows Components and select Windows Explorer



5. Now find " these specified drives in My Computer " from right hand side pane



6. Double click on it to open Properties or right click on it and select Properties


7. Select Enabled and select the desired drive under Restrict all drives section


8. Click Apply and then OK


Now your desired drive is hidden from My Computer and no one able to access it. Remember only an system administrator account has privilege to do so. Other user account in your system does not right to do so.
