In this match, Rohit surpassed Virender Sehwag's 219 highest individual score in ODIs. Rohit was dismissed off the final delivery of India's innings for 264. His knock helped India to reach 404/5 in 50 overs and which make Sri Lanka to go down on knee. Sri Lanka all out on 251 in 43.1 overs and India won the match by 153 runs.

Rohit was dropped by Thisara Perera at third man when he was on 4. After being dropped on 4, Rohit never looked back and scored mighty 264 runs which seems impossible to break by other batsman in future. Although all records are made to break but this could be different. The innings was so arranged that it was very hard to describe. This was his first international cricket after fracturing a finger in August. Read also : how to lock / unlock smartphone and erase data remotely.

Rohit Sharma's first double century came against Australia at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on November 3, 2013 where he scored 209 runs from 158 balls with 12 fours and 16 sixes.

Before Rohit only legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag made 200 runs in one day international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar scored 200 not out against South Africa at Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior on February 24, 2010 where he became the 1st player to touch 200 runs landmark. Virender Sehwag was the second player to cross the 200 runs landmark in 50 overs cricket who scored 219 runs against West Indies in Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore in December 8, 2011.
