In this match, Rohit surpassed Virender Sehwag's 219 highest individual score in ODIs. Rohit was dismissed off the final delivery of India's innings for 264. His knock helped India to reach 404/5 in 50 overs and which make Sri Lanka to go down on knee. Sri Lanka all out on 251 in 43.1 overs and India won the match by 153 runs.
Before the series start Sri Lanka had played a warm-up for the series against Mumbai to where Rohit scored 145 runs from 111 balls and that was his first competitive game since fracturing a finger in August.
Rohit Sharma's first double century came against Australia at Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on November 3, 2013 where he scored 209 runs from 158 balls with 12 fours and 16 sixes.
However, Rohit Sharma became the first player to score 2 double century in one day international cricket. Before Rohit only legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag made 200 runs in one day international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar scored 200 not out against South Africa at Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior on February 24, 2010 where he became the 1st player to touch 200 runs landmark. Virender Sehwag was the second player to cross the 200 runs landmark in 50 overs cricket who scored 219 runs against West Indies in Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore in December 8, 2011.
One thing is cleared that all the double centuries was done by Indian cricketers only and only in India.
