How To Setup Google Tag Manager For Tag Management

As we know that blogger is the most popular and user friendly free blog hosting platform developed by Google. Google had developed many tools for its different products in recent times . What is Google Tag Manager

Google Tag Manager (GTM) is of the newest tag management free tool developed by the Google to manage your own website and mobile apps tags on the spot. Every website uses many tags like JavaScript for social share button and scripts like Google Analytics, Google Web Master tags and many more and these are not so easy to manage. To do so you need to edit your website template/theme manually and this is not an easy process. You must have a little bit programming knowledge to do all the tasks. From a non technical point of view it is extremely easy to add, remove and update all the tags easily. Google Tag Manager has automatic error checking and speeds up the load time of webpages as Google loads code asynchronously and also offers opportunities for advertisers to get details about the website. Process to Setup Google Tag Manager

 At first you just need to create account for Google Tag Manager. To create account for Google Tag Manager just click here. Here you need to setup account name and then click Continue after that you need to setup container name which should be your website url like and then select container platform i.e, Web for desktop/laptop computer. Once you do the above steps click Create button. Once you click create, you will be asked to accept Google Tag Manager terms and conditions. Click Yes to get the Google Tag Manager code. Now copy the code and switch to your blog/website dashboard. Read also Best SEO tools to analyze a website

If you want to add Google Tag Manager code to a website then you need to paste the code immediately just after the opening <body> tag onto every pages of your website and then need to Save the page. Read also : How to make your blog push notification ready.

Adding Google Tag Manager Code to Blogger Blog

If you want to add Google Tag Manager code to blogger blog then after login to blogger dashboard, click Template and then click Edit HTML. After that you need to find opening <body> tag and then paste the code just below the opening <body> tag and then click Save template. Now to resolve this issue, you just need to find the string dl=l!='dataLayer'?'&l='+l:''; and replace (&) with its HTML encoded version i.e, (&amp;) since blogger has a strict encoding schema and then click Save template. Read also : How to submit Blogger Sitemap to search engines

Create GTM Container

Once you have done all the above tasks, switch to Google Tag Manager again to create container for your website because the container replaces all other manually-coded tags on your website or app, including tags from Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and 3rd party tags. Now you just need to click container name and then click New Tag to choose from over 20 tag types. After that choose Google Analytics  among the different products and then select tag type either Universal Analytics or Custom Analytics. After that clickContinue to proceed to configure tag. Here you need to enter your Google Analytics tracking code. After entering the Google Analytics tracking code select the checkbox for Enable Display Advertising Features. The default track type is Page View.  In the next step i.e., Fire On you need to choose some triggers from the available types. You can choose one or more triggers but the best option is to choose All Pages as trigger type. After choosing trigger type click Create Tag. How To Publish Google Tag Manager
