How to Set Age Restriction To YouTube Video

Some YouTube videos don't violate YouTube's policies, but may not be appropriate for all audiences. In these cases YouTube's review team may place an age restriction when they are notified of the content by other users. YouTube consider the following categories when they evaluate whether content is appropriate for all ages.

  • Vulgar language
  • Violence and disturbing imagery
  • Nudity and sexually suggestive content
  • Portrayal of harmful or dangerous activities.

If YouTube review team notified of the content regarding any video that falls under the above categories, they imposed age restriction so that users who are logged out and users under 18 years of age can not see this video. YouTube has age restriction option for uploader so that an uploader can set age restriction itself to its own video when he find his video inappropriate for all audiences and this feature gives uploaders more control over their content. Age restriction is imposed by the uploader and is not a result of a review by YouTube. An age restricted video may not be eligible for monetization. Using the age restrict feature

If a user wish to enable age restriction to its own video, you can access this feature in two ways. One is during the upload flow and other is after the upload through the video manager.

During upload flow

At first upload a video on YouTube and during the upload click Advanced settings. Now scroll down to Age restrictions heading and click the check box Enable age restriction. Read also : Everything about YouTube audio swapping.



Through the video manager

If you forget to enable age restriction during upload process. No matter you can still have option to impose age restriction to a video. Now go to VIDEO MANAGER and click the Edit option on the video that you wish to age restrict. After that click Advanced settings and scroll down to Age restrictions heading and click the check box Enable age restriction.
